cheddar & chive beer bread...dinner tonight...

our dinner for tonight is seafood chowder and cheddar & chive beer bread! the bread recipe is from a blog i love to read... http://www.farmgirlfare.com/ ... no joke, this bread is so awesome! and takes under an hour to make! i can't wait to try it again with different flavor combinations! any bottle of beer can be used...the darker the beer the deeper the flavor. i used what i had on hand, sam adams spring seasonal. farmgirl's original recipe was for cheddar & dill...i did not have any dill on hand, so i substituted dried chives. i think next time, i want to try making an herb & feta cheese combo! seriously...try this bread!! it is really good :)

3 cups flour
1 tbsp sugar
1 tbsp baking powder
1 tsp salt
2 tsp dried chives
1 cup grated cheddar
12 oz bottle of beer

preheat oven to 375 degrees; combine ingrediants, adding beer slowly into the dry ingrediants (dough will be thick); fill greased loaf pan with batter; bake for 45 minutes; let cool on baking rack.

downpouring...bye-bye snow, hello spring???

today i am grateful that it is pouring rain instead of dumping snow! i hope that this is a small sign that spring in creeping closer and closer. we have so many plans for this year's garden...and i cant wait to get started!!

fuzzi bunz!!

mostly an effort to save money. but, i also love the idea of not filling the planet up with dirty diapers...i am going to give "fuzzi bunz " a try!! i found 4 gently used fuzzi bunz on ebay...brand new they are about $17.00 a piece, i bought them for only $5.00 a piece. i also found a woman on ebay that makes her own inserts for the diapers, with adorable prints and extra padding! the idea is to change the insert as you would change the whole disposable diaper. they also come in bright colors that i love!! boo is my third child...so i'm a little late jumping on the cloth diaper bandwagon...better late than never. also, from what i hear girls are easier to potty train than boys...so maybe in a few months we wont need any diapers at all :)

chicks are coming!

i am very excited! my day old chicks will be arriving on march 21st...we are getting 3 barred rock, 2 rhode island red, and 5 golden comet! i have the brooder all set up...feeder, waterer, heat lamp! i am so looking forward to picking up my little egg layers :)
